Massive Black Sexy Tornado
These are a few pieces that I printed in preparation for the Massive Black workshop in San Francisco. I've posted most of these before but figured it would be nice to see them all together for posterity's sake. Finally got around to making a brush out of a seal of my name (say that 5 times fast) that was carved in Taiwan two New Year's ago. Figured it would be easier and more visually interesting than putting a signature on the prints. The stamp itself is made of ox bone or ox tooth or something... I forget. I also got business cards printed. Yay for being official!
The last week has been super stressful and full of anxiety and pressure. Balancing work alongside drawing, painting, and portfolio prep has been hectic as hell. Combine that with friend's birthdays pretty much everyday this week and you've got the perfect storm... or perfect sexy tornado, whichever you prefer. Totally worth it though. Can't wait to have a drink or two with old friends and finally meeting others from the Gorilla Artfare crew. Not to mention the insane amount of information that will be overloaded upon my brain. This upcoming week is going to be electric. Yeaaaboiii!
I'll be updating this thing every day so be on the lookout. Cheers.

Crinkle Crew

My trip back home was amazing. DEERPEOPLE are amazing. Hugs and handshakes, bicycling, walking, slam dancing to Pink Flag (the entire album), jaunts to the local caffeine dispensary, staying up till daylight everyday and not fighting jet-lag, unusual May weather, Julian and co's graduation (congrats!), home-cooked festivities, and good conversation with good people.
Isn't the group photo just precious?

crazy times

I've filled one sketchbook and started in a new toned book. Have also got some fun projects in the works from some very cool people. Can't wait to show everyone the new stuff! Feels like i've got a new lease on art... it's strange what being in a different culture and environment can do. Much thanks to the Singapore Sketchgroup! Hope everyone is doing well in these crazy times.

monkey king meets the ninja turtles

We visited another temple in Ipoh during the end of my trip in Malaysia [the name of the temple escapes me at the moment.] This one was different than others i've visited. We've come here on two or 3 occassions when I was younger but this time was different. I felt very at peace this time. The area had a strong, calming presence all around.
Also, the place had huge gangs of monkeys that acted like they owned the place. You could see them swinging in the trees on the mountains along with hanging out on roof tops. They're not scared by people at all, which i'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing.
I've been in Singapore for the last few days now and it's interesting how different it is here. Everything is a lot faster paced, especially in the business district. Tons of people rushing to work in the mornings from the subway with heavy traffic all the time. Sort of like a miniature Metropolis. Pictures of that coming soon.

More:
The street where we get breakfast in Ipoh (Malaysia). It's been raining the last couple days.

Black eggs at the morning market. I didn't want to try them out.
Edit: The eggs are covered in mud, charcoal and other things and then they're hard boiled. Kind of like preserved salty fish.

Fish head curry, home cooked

I've got my own restaurant at the mall

Some people may get a kick out of this

And a quick drawing from yesterday. I don't have a scanner here but really wanted to show everyone. Will post a higher-res if I get access to a scanner. I've got other sketches as well but those can wait.

Arrived here in Singapore yesterday. Flew for around 19 hours. We leave for Malaysia tomorrow for about a week and then it's back to Singapore. The weather is nice but humid. Not too hot...yet. Will post more when I get a chance!Best,
