Self Portrait Day 2015
Missed self portrait day last year and didn't want to miss it this year. Got a lamp the other day for still lifes and used it for the first time tonight, such light, such heat

method to the madness
Here's the secretary bird (updated) and a self portrait done in a new method. I was inspired by Sachin Teng's work and wanted to try my hand at his method. Was fun to simplify things... definitely going to keep this simplification going.

bird study... part I
Tried a different method of working tonight. Trying to be bold with the brush strokes, color, and texture. Having fun with this one so far... more soon.

skullskullskull
This is the most recent work in progress. It started off as a lazy doodle to skull study to (kind of) an illustration. Just having fun for now, we'll see where it takes me. Thanks for looking.

new project!
The first image is the start of a new project! While at the Massive Black workshop I was inspired and decided to finish a sketchbook from beginning to end- the only stipulation being that each page has to be finished to my satisfaction. The inspiration stemmed from seeing a couple of fellow Gorilla, Rod Luff's work in person. Excited to see where this goes!
The other two are studies from a couple weeks ago that weren't posted. Thanks for looking!

#31 and then some

More fashion figures and another week of studies! The wasp was a few sessions over a couple days but isn't done... I might try to take it further. Onto the next! Divide and conquer.

#24... and week #1 of studies!

In conjunction with these daily warm ups are daily studies I've been doing. I've always had trouble with color and painting in general so I decided to tackle that problem head on. I'll be posting the studies weekly, not only for posterity's sake but also for myself... to see progress and what not. Just like the good ol' days.
